Just released from prison, Greg Bachmann, a young journalist, is being offered the chance to work for well established and revered star reporter Cesar Boyd. For Greg it's a dream come true: Boyd has been his idol for a long time and he hopes to learn from the older, more experienced man. When Boyd fails to uncover spectacular news to distribute to international agencies, he simply makes up a tall tale about German soldiers that supposedly were buried alive for years in a Polish bunker after World War II. He has Bachmann launch the story who soon realizes that there's something wrong with it. When Bachmann threatens to go public with the truth he is being framed by Boyd as the originator of the sham.
