At long last the horrifying William Castle (1914-1977) classic is available in all it’s remastered glory. Macabre was the first of this genius’s films. He went on to make House on Haunted Hill (1959), The Tingler (1959) and 13 Ghosts (1960) which are classics and beloved by generations of B movie fans.

Macabre was so hideously terrifying when it was released in 1958 that filmgoers were insured by Lloyds of London for $100,000 should they die of fright while watching this movie. No insurance is offered these days. But in a way, the films closing credit are to die for.
