*Stan Getz, Voyage, 1986
Voted as one of the Top 100 Jazz Albums of All Time by the prestigious Jazz critic Carlos Sampayo, Voyage find Gets joined by pianist Kenny Barron, bassist George Mraz and drummer Victor Lewis.
Primarily a ballads release "Voyage" sets sail on a steady course of Getz at his very best. There are several recording from the mid 1980's that are questionable both in sound quality and song selection but not here.
"Voyage" easily establishes Getz as perhaps the finest lyrical tenor saxophone player ever, building upon a foundation laid down by the likes of Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster.
Getz often referred to Barron as his musical soul mate and the chemistry is undeniable in this jazz masterpiece.
Easy to enjoy, difficult to classify, Voyage is one of Getz finest recordings.

"I believe you should try to make music as beautiful as you can. It should not be done with ugliness. There's so much hate in the world; you have to counteract it with lovliness."
