On 23 August 2005, TANS Perú Flight 204 attempted to make a landing at Pucallpa Airport, Peru after a severe thunderstorm but crashed into a muddy swamp 4 miles (6.4 km) off the airfield. The cause was the pilots not following visual flight rules under adverse weather conditions.
