Career criminal Melvyn Rattigan gets thirty years for manslaughter,thanks to Gently,but is soon out on appeal,claiming that Gently fabricated evidence to send him down and is himself guilty of bribery and corruption. Things look even worse when thuggish Met officers lean on Bacchus to betray his boss,claiming that Gently murdered an undercover cop infiltrating local gangs.
