Following up on the success of 2008's Asuncion and 2010's Supermagique was no easy task for the Vancouver-based trio of vocalists that includes Silvana Kane, guitarist Adam Popowitz and bassist Toby Peter, so they took a new approach.
"In the past the three of us would sit together and jam ideas," said Peter. "This time Adam and I built a track, then Silvana could come in and vibe off of it."
Amor Planeta, which translates to "love planet," is anchored in the familiar instrumentation that Pacifika is known for, but the band worked to incorporate more live performance and a little less electronica into the record. As a result, the record has a more lush, relaxed sound even in the more upbeat tracks like "So Much Here" or "Bring It."
