A Lutheran priest in Iceland Jon Magnusson accuses members in his congregation of sorcery (witchcraft) with punishment to be execution by being burned alive. Jon Magnusson was an actual priest in Iceland who in 1658-59 wrote a rather extensive manuscript justifying his accusations. In this film directed by Hrafn Gunnlaugsson (When the Raven Flies, Shadow of the Raven) an elderly man Jon Magnusson seeks help from the Bishop of Iceland to help him be saved from eternal punishment in Hell. Then in flashbacks we see his story where he makes his accusations and we see accused executed after being convicted by civil authority. Modern scholarship estimates that in Europe during the height of the witch craze tens of thousands were executed. People actually believed in that stuff and here you can see it up close. Be prepared for plenty of ice and snow as well as people being burned alive
