The honour for discovering the jazz side of Bach’s counterpoint goes to the Modern Jazz Quartet. But the artist who bridged the two worlds, made classical music swing, and even resurrected within the jazz world the old classical form of theme and variations was certainly Jacques Loussier. Here are some of his finest moments with his first trio (1959-1978 with: Pierre Michelot, double bass; Christian Garros, drums) as well as his second trio (1985- with: Benoit Dunoyer de Segonzac, double bass; Andre Arpino, drums).
