This compilation is an excellent overview of the other, pop standard-performing side of outlaw country artist Willie Nelson, which first manifested itself on 1978's STARDUST. Two of that album's tracks, "Unchained Melody" and "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," are featured here in a romantic, low-key set, in addition to favorites like "Stormy Weather," "That Lucky Old Sun," and "Exactly Like You," all sung with Nelson's familiar gloriously weathered voice to a intimate, small group accompaniment, which, in the STARDUST tracks' case, features legendary R&B organist Booker T. Jones.
