What the hell? What was going on here? The edits seemed totally like tv show production quality. Don't get me started on the obvious blue screen at the end showing off how they ran out of money.

Was it because the stars wanted too much cash? Hurting the production? No cash for rewrites, no cash for finishing the effects, no cash for a better script?

It turns out that the cast was included in the script rewrites with Stewart being the prime concern. Like he may not do what's in the script unless he has approval.

With more sets than previous trek flicks, one might see how the cash became scarce perhaps.

Either way, this edit seeks out to remove the parts that bog the movie down more than slurred speech during a lecture.

Things done:

The horrible beginning is gone. No more data going amok onscreen. Removed the horrible draining the lake sequence. Did they not notice how dry everything was after the lake was drained? Who approved of this edit before it went to theaters? Stevie Wonder?

Removed some dialog that informs the audience what is going on. Changed the ending so Picard seems way more determined and bad ass. Less dialog is more here.

Now the flick is more like a tv 2 parter on steriods. If that means anything.
