Terra Ignota is a planned quartet of Science fiction novels written by Ada Palmer, consisting of Too Like the Lightning (2016), Seven Surrenders (2017), and The Will to Battle (2017), with the final volume Perhaps the Stars scheduled for publication in 2018. Set in the year 2454, they follow the events that lead the world to war for the first time after three centuries of peace following the death of the nation state. Narrated by Mycroft Canner, a convicted felon sentenced to travel the world being as helpful as he can to all he meets, the novels are written in the style of Eighteenth Century Age of Enlightenment thinkers, such as Voltaire and Thomas Hobbes. The novels have won several awards, including being a finalist for the 2017 Hugo Award for Best Novel.
