Of Orcs and Men is a fantasy action role-playing game developed by Cyanide and Spiders for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The Empire of Men's oppressive threat looms over the territories of the Orcs and the Goblins. Goblins are systematically persecuted and slaughtered, while Orcs not killed in battle are captured and enslaved or killed.

Plot

Of Orcs and Men first puts the player into the role of an elite Orc soldier, Arkail, from the legendary legion of Bloodjaws. The legion is a league of warriors deeply involved in the war between the Orcs and the Goblins on one side and their persecutors, Humankind, on the other. As a veteran warrior who has seen the most brutal of battles, the player is appointed by the Orc commander to complete a mission that could change the course of the war, to kill the Emperor himself, the man responsible for the bloodshed. A Goblin, Styx, soon joins the player, an unlikely but indispensable ally.

The prequel of this game, out in 2014, starring Styx the goblin is Styx: Master of Shadows.

A história de Of Orcs and Men parte de uma premissa interessante: tudo começa quando você é designado a uma missão dada pelo seu comandante, que nada mais é do que matar o responsável pela eterna guerra entre humanos e Orcs: o Imperador dos homens.

Parece estranho, mas este jogo apresenta um outro ponto de vista desta batalha milenar, e os humanos é que são os tiranos da história, tratando os Orcs como escravos e varrendo a raça Goblin da face da Terra. Pois é, desta vez veremos que os monstrengos também têm sentimentos.

Como todo herói tem seu fiel companheiro, em Of Orcs and Men você conta com a ajuda de um Goblin. Pode não parecer muita coisa pela sua aparência fraca, ou por ser um dos primeiros inimigos que você mata em qualquer jogo de RPG comum, mas neste caso a criaturinha tem suas utilidades.

O Goblin é praticamente o oposto do Orc, e seu estilo de jogo é mais focado em tirar proveito da rapidez e das sombras para executar seus ataques, sendo assim um perfeito assassino e ladrão. Já o Orc é a força bruta no campo de batalha, mais lento, mas bem mais poderoso.

Cada personagem terá suas habilidades próprias, e poderá subir de nível individualmente ao longo do jogo, adquirindo novos poderes e habilidades específicas para sua raça.
