Grantchester is a murder mystery detective drama, set in the village of Grantchester near Cambridge. This is a period drama set in the 1950s. It was first broadcast in 2014. The show features Anglican vicar Sidney Chambers (James Norton), who is pulled into murder investigations with Detective Inspector Geordie Keating (Robson Green). Keating's gruff, methodical approach to policing complements Chambers' more intuitive techniques of coaxing information from witnesses and suspects. Based on The Grantchester Mysteries, collections of short stories by James Runcie.


The first series was broadcast in the United Kingdom on ITV starting in October 2014. The show premiered in the United States on 18 January 2015 on Masterpiece Mystery on PBS.
