The Apprentice is a competition. The contestants are competing in a
contest. It's competitive-reality. Why that needs to be a lower CRF,
I don't know, but that's the way it is.

You may argue that Medium is more suitable, and you may or may not be
right. If you decide to use Medium and actually win a race then great,
good for you, we aren't going to be assholes and proper... but when you
lose that doesn't mean you can proper others who are following the rules.

Bottom line: use what CRF you like for Apprentice, but don't be a fucking
dick about it
