Taking on the worst that the Luftwaffe had to offer, the Flying Fortresses of the 8th Air Force flew daylight bombing missions over the most heavily defended cities in Europe. Each crewed by 10 men - thousands of them would fly the most perilous missions of the Second World War. But many would never return.
Though they suffered unprecedented losses, the young American airmen of the 'Mighty Eighth' turned the tide of the war. With never-before-seen home movie footage of B-17s returning to their British bases and the white-knuckle recollections of pilots and bombardiers, BATTLE STATIONS chronicles the development and operational history of America's first four-engined bomber, flying high over wartime Berlin on the raids that eventually crippled the Nazi regime.
