In Mesopotamia, centuries ago, Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella) has her plans interrupted just as she is about to invoke Set, the god of death, so that together they can rule the world. Mummified, she is imprisoned within a tomb. Nowadays, the site is discovered by accident by Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) and Chris Vail (Jake Johnson), looters of ancient artifacts that were in the region in search of rarities. Alongside researcher Jenny Halsey (Annabelle Wallis), they investigate the newly discovered tomb and accidentally awaken Ahmanet. She soon elects Nick as her chosen one and thereafter seeks out Set's dagger so she can summon him to the body of the spoiler.
