The film went for shoot in February 10th 2008 and for next 8 months, until September 2008, the team shed not only their sweat, but truly their blood too, in the soil of Vanni, amidst artilleries and shells to present us the true story of ‘Ellalan’. On the 7th day of the shoot, February 17th 2008, the hero of the film, Major. Pukazh Maaran and 3 others were killed by shell attack of the Srilankan Army.
