The puzzles can be used by students at different ages and levels of math skills all over the world to enhance logical thinking and the creativeness needed to solve such puzzles. It can be used as a class room exercise, team work or individual challenges, and teachers may think of it as a an archive of material to challenge their students.

I hope that those of you not studying will also find it to be great fun to solve the puzzles and a healthy way of spending time. Many people are physically active to maintain good health, but I am convinced that exercising those neurons is also important to maintain strong brain functions throughout life.

Many of the puzzles do not require any specific math skills, but just the ability to combine information and think logically. Other puzzles do require some math skills, but only basic math such as simple geometry or the ability to solve simple equations. A few puzzles require more advanced math skills, but even without the ability to find the exact answer, you may be able to determine at least part of the method of how to solve it.

I hope that the puzzles will take you beyond the point of basic math, but trigger the creative process of figuring out how to solve a problem. You cannot solve these puzzles by putting numbers into formulas. You need to apply logical thinking. And you need to figure out how to break down a problem.

In the end of the book not only solutions are shown, but also how to derive these solutions in detail. I strongly encourage you to go the extra mile and try to solve the puzzles before looking at the solutions! It is so much more rewarding to know that you were able to crack it. The solutions are great to have to check your results, but also to gain some insights, if you are completely stuck and have to surrender!
