In the open, we are surrounded not only by a mass of colour, but also by much polarization. The latter normally remains invisible to us, but with the aid of a simple polarizing sheet, like those in Polaroid sunglasses, one suddenly becomes aware how much polarization there is. In this article, a number of observations are described and the regularities in the natural polarization pattern are discussed.
