Volenti o nolenti, il ruolo fondamentale impersonato da John Mayall, padre insieme ad Alexis Korner del British Blues, nella promozione e nella diffusione del Blues non può esser negato. Nella versione mainstream offerta al pubblico in questi ultimi due decenni, il Blues di Mayall, imperniato da sempre sugli stessi modelli, fa quasi tenerezza, come l’uomo Mayall, molto prossimo allo stereotipo dell’inglese strambo.

Ottimo manager di se stesso, tra cinquanta e più albums ufficiali, Mayall ha anche regolarmente pubblicato raccolte, alcune anche di pregio come “Looking Back”, stroncando qualsiasi velleità commerciale di fare soldi coi suoi inediti.



Se vi piace il White Blues, questa raccolta non potete (dovete...) farvela scappare; basti guardare i nomi che vi son presenti, da Clapton a Peter Green passando per Mick Taylor ad altri "mostri" sacri del panorama blues inglese del periodo.
