Francesca, giovane cameriera d'albergo, istigata dal suo amante, Walter, ruba la collana di una cliente. Fuggono entrambi, e Francesca si mescola alle mondine, che partono in treno. Nel dormitorio delle mondariso, Francesca viene derubata della collana da una compagna, Silvana. Sul luogo del lavoro giunge Walter, il quale avendo appreso che Silvana è presumibilmente in possesso della collana, la circuisce. Silvana non è insensibile alle premure del lestofante e, abbandonato un sergente che l'ama, diviene l'amante di Walter, mentre il sergente fa la corte a Francesca, che si è pentita ormai del male fatto. Walter, avendo scoperto che la collana rubata è falsa, decide, per rifarsi, di rubare il riso accumulato nei magazzini come premio finale per le mondariso...
