Sham 69 is a British first wave punk rock band formed in 1975 in Hersham, Surrey, England, and is credited with being at the forefront of the oi! movement. The peak of Sham 69's popularity came in 1978-1979, when 6 singles of the group entered the British Top 20, and "Hersham Boys" climbed to 6th place.
While all punk bands proclaimed proletarian ideals, few were as directly related to the working class as Sham 69.
