#16 of an ongoing project to convert PDF scans to readable ebook versions. Converted, formatted and proof-read by myself, this epub version is both new to the internet and a site exclusive (until, you know, it makes its way to other places on the Internet). I found the PDF scan online. It was scanned well by whoever did it.

The novelization of BLOW OUT is based on an early version of the script, which matches the final film reasonably closely, with one major exception. When De Palma cast his wife Nancy Allen in the lead role, I think that resulted in a toning down of the character (i.e. much nudity described in the script did not make the film).

As novelizations go, this is pretty good. It's readable and there are extended bits that go into the backstory of the three lead characters much more than in the film. There is also much more of the political backstory that is only hinted at in the final film.

The script I have has a different ending than the film, and this novelization follows the script.
