It is waste and waste everywhere, discharged from processes that were mandated to draw energy and elevate the comfort zone and luxury-life style of human beings, in this twenty-first century. These wastes, in the form of gas, liquid, and solid, contaminate enormously the atmosphere, land, and water bodies.
The energy-driven attempt of the modern world exploits the mother earth, exhausts the natural energy resources, and pushes the world population into severe health risks, as could be seen from present disasters in the form of global warming, climate change, and the spread of ill-health among the world population. Should we all simply be spectators of these disastrous evolutions or do something that could pave some solutions?
The authors of this book are working in the field of environmental engineering, attempting towards clean energy generation, eco-friendly waste disposal, and guiding the younger generation to work on these issues to provide better solutions for the past 30 years with international experience. The thirty years plus experience encouraged me to write this book towards answering the questions raised above.
This book on biofuel production from biomass as the core substrate is aimed at providing solutions to generate clean/green energy. Generating biofuels from renew able feedstock will be the best way to balance the current world energy demand and strengthen the global economic crisis. These biofuels are green energy resources and a primary alternative to fossil fuels. In transportation, biofuels are blended with existing fuels such as diesel and gas. Blending biofuel with others is an effective way of reducing carbon emissions during transportation.
