waxcide collective mix torrent

Early one afternoon I was randomly digging for some file, the specifics of what escapes me, but ofc I kept coming across other things that were fascinating and long lost even if not the thing I was after.

Amongst them was the file marked "wofls_top_100_electronic_albums.md" - suddenly I was beset by an idea - pick ten tracks from the top ten, get DNSK to do the same and mix those twenty files somehow.

After some discussion we decided to each do a mix with the same selection of twenty tracks and release them as a pair.

This archive contains the results.

wofl mixed his mix on a MS Surface Pro 2017 i7 16GB running Ableton Live 12 Suite with a litte help from some Isotope Ozone plugins.

DNSK mixed his mix on a Pioneer DDJ-200 Controller and a desktop PC running Virtual DJ 2025 - see dnsk_specs.png for his pc specs.

Interesting notes about the musics:

- The singer on orbital's "are we here?" is in fact a young, and as yet near unkown still at that point, Alison Goldfrapp!

- Mr. oizo's "ham" is one of no less than 6 tracks of his that made it onto billboard's 50 weirdest songs to dance to a couple of years back!

- "Another Club" by Radio Slave was released on February 17, 2017. As of January 21, 2025, the track is approximately 7 years and 11 months old. and we've been enjoying it in our musical world that whole time!

- Aphex Twin's "Tamphex" is one of the only tracks selected that isn't natively around 128bpm before adjustments were made!

- SOPHIE's "BIPP" is nearly entirely without any conventional instrumentation, sounds or structure compared to most music heard in this mix, even the vocals being significantly pitched up - the rest is even more experimantal!

- Freddy Fresh's track is a collaboration with norman cook, i.e.Fatboy Slim!
