Three brothers Jason, Omar and Dave Rivera (Bertrum at birth) lived in Rowland Heights, California. They grew up in a musical family; their father was a classical guitarist. The brothers studied at the same school and even then, with their mutual friend Steve Kelly, they organized a school band. True, they did not play together for long, although they managed to release one 45 - “LIZ” / “Deep Inside”. After finishing school, they decided to continue their musical career. Having parted with Steve Kelly, they came up with a new name JODE (Jason, Omar, Dave and Everybody). Having borrowed a reel-to-reel tape recorder from Kelly, the guys began to compose and record demos. All the songs were written by Jason and Omar. Producer Bob Scherl helped them sign a contract with the “Sound Factory” in Hollywood. In 1971, the album of the same name was recorded on the “Vanguard” label with the help of sound engineer Dave Hassinger. The album turned out to be the only one and it was not possible to trace the brothers’ further fate
