This time, David and Hugh cycle along the final part of the majestic Garonne canal and discover amazing scenes and astonishing stories in unexpected places, while digging deeper into their upbringings and family histories. Hugh shows off his superior sporting skills in a battle with David and some local gents on the petanque pitch. David discovers a connection with his family's past through a story of heroism in the town of Moissac. At the Seuil de Naurouze, they gatecrash an unusual local fiesta, before dining in Castelnaudary - the cassoulet capital of the world - where Hugh can sample his favourite French dish. This leg of the journey culminates at the beautifully preserved medieval citadel of Carcassonne, where Hugh and David uncover its fascinating history and finally take a breather.
