Akiko Shikata (志方あきこ) is a Japanese composer and singer-songwriter born in Tokyo, Japan, currently signed to the HATS UNLIMITED label. She is most well known for her contributions to the Ar tonelico and Shadow Hearts video games series. She plays fantasy music inspired by medieval, celtic, renaissance and ethnic music. One of her defining characteristics as singer is her ability to sing in multiple languages, her main ones being Japanese, Italian and Hymmnos (the made-up language of Ar tonelico), though she has also sung in some other uncommon languages, such as Uyghur, Turkish, Ainu and Tibetan...
