One reason for this might be that, by chance, Hitomi's not-too-smart boyfriend, Toshio Utsumi, is the detective in charge of the Cat's Eye investigations, thus constituting a good source for insider tips about the current police work. Unfortunately, there is still Toshio's colleague, Mitsuko Asatani, who suspects Hitomi of being one of the Cat's Eye group. What a nice coincidence that the "Cat's Eye" café is located in front of the police station!
