Osu!! Karate Bu is a manga of the same name that deals with the various rivalries and brawls between many different gangs of delinquent teenage bosozoku street thugs. Running for a massive 43 volumes from 1985 to 1996 in the seinen (adult male) publication Young Jump, this four part OAV covers somewhere around the first 8 and a half volumes or so worth of stories, when the manga was still largely a comedic martial arts/street fighting series that acted as a goofy, episodic tongue-in-cheek lampooning of bosozoku and Kansai region stereotypes. The manga later becomes far more violent and much more serious with a far greater emphasis on large scale, twisty story arcs; but this short OAV series ends more or less just prior to the arc that functions as the big changeover in style between the wacky and jokey early stories and the more harder and edgier later volumes.
