Most changes were simple chapter alterations when I wasn't happy with them, but voyage 4 has serious resolution problems due to me making a mistake while muxing them originally. I encourage everyone to patch those ones at the very least.

This is my attempt to redo the first 205 episodes. To my knowledge, DBNL's release is all that's out there. The way they encoded the files has always bothered me for two reasons: 1. they used cbr which is just an outdated encoding method and 2. they encoded to 640x480 rather than just doing 720x480 and putting in a flag to deform it to the correct aspect ratio.

There are a number of differences between this and my later DVD encodes. I had to crop pixels because nobody likes black bars. I also encoded to crf 19 because 17 was producing enormous files. The display resolution of these varies based on the bars in the specific episode. It's usually 706-708x540. 640x480 is the standard for 4:3, but you can only tell an mkv the aspect ratio to display, not the actual dimensions.

Also of note is that I downloaded the R1, R2, and R2 Log collections and compared them before deciding on the R1 DVDs. The log collection is zoomed in which is just not good. R2 and R1 retail releases have the same black bar pixels on the edges. R1 is slightly more saturated, but it's barely any different. By using R1 it also puts the text in English in many places which is preferable for a dual audio release.

These episodes will be on average about 50% larger than the DBNL ones. A large portion of the increased size is the audio quality. DBNL compressed the audio and used 2.0 English audio. Total size per episode is under 40mb. I use the original audio. That's 112mb for most episodes and 146 on commentary episodes. Other than that, the actual video part itself can vary in size from around the DBNL size of 211 to 350 for high action or noisy episodes.
