Worked out how to turn purchased kindle ebooks into a bunch of images (jpeg) via calibre w/ the DeDRM plugin. (Make sure in page setup choose Tablet and Default Input Profile, and output format is: ZIP).

Unfortunately size they provide is max 844x1200, which is no where NEAR as good as a proper scan.
