Synopsis:
In 1904, at New Year's, the Akiyama family in Fukui prefecture were full of hope except for one thing. Shuzo (Tetta Sugimoto) worries that his second son, Tokuzo (Takeru Sato) just quits things too easily unlike the first son, Shutaro (Ryohei Suzuki). The worried father arranges his son to marry Toshiko (Hana Kuroki) of the Takahama family who runs a seaweed merchant. One day, newly-married Tokuzo encounters Sergeant Tanabe (Hideaki Ito) of the Sabae Regiment while delivering seaweed. Tokuzo has a piece of freshly-fried cutlet offered by Tanabe and is struck by the overwhelming taste. - TBS
