Seiryu and the others initiate a dangerous plan to attempt to resolve the situation by entering the crater of Sakurajima and speaking to Iza directly. Setsubun is a Japanese holiday. It’s supposed to be the beginning of spring, even though it takes place on February 3rd, which in most places, is still winter. Though the origins go back to the Lunar New Year and superstitions about demons and ogres and the ills they bring such as disease, ruining harvests, etc, in modern days, it’s still a ritual performed at shrines. The family version of it has evolved into a holiday where a family member, usually the dad, wears a demon mask and roars at his kids, and the kids hurl handfuls of roasted soybeans at him while shouting, “Oni wa soto! Fuku wa ichi!” or “Demons, out! Good luck, in!”

Also, the scene where Azusa is trying to explain grandpa coming to help you out when people around you are getting on your case and the odd scene of Sogyoku as mom and Kairen as Seiryu's dad is referencing the classic anime Chibi Maruko-chan, where that's a frequent plot. Even if Maruko-chan frequently rips off her grandpa and gets him to do stuff for her.
