Torrent Description
Years ago I decided to do what I could to get the best possible English subtitles synced to the Japanese Dragon Box episodes and movies. It was a task I never completed, though I did hand over the resulting ASS files to a few people here and there who wished to use them in their projects.
As we know, recent developments indicate that high quality rips of the entire series with broadcast audio included should soon be available to all. So, while this is probably coming a little bit too late for that, since the multiple versions already present here on Nyaa and on other trackers aren't without issues either, I figured that at least something in these subs might prove useful (if not to the well-known groups working in the series right now, maybe to others who don't want to wait and would just rather make their own rips or remuxes).
Sources used: --- Dragon Ball Z: Funimation Dragon Boxes; --- Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball GT, and Movies: Dragon Box project from ADC, mainly carried by Krycek7o2 but with several other contributors (ultimately sourced from Funimation DVDs; DB NEPs were translated from Spanish DVD subs; public safety specials and Gaiden came from fansubs); --- Previews at the end of Dragon Ball episodes 31-71: SRT subs uploaded on Nyaa by (IIRC) TandiBandi.
Except for DB 31-71 NEPs, all subs were OCRed with SubExtractor and then manually corrected. Formatting is the SubExtractor default.
Also fixed lots of typos and improved timings (the latter mainly in DBZ, but to a lesser extent also in the rest whenever needed). I'm not claiming it was an exhaustive spell checking nor a perfect sync, but it's certainly better than it was. Note, however, that depending on how the video and audio are ripped, some empty frames may be inserted at the beginning, meaning that subs may have to be shifted en bloc to account for this.
