Human Lost is a loose adaptation--more of an interpretation--of Dazai Osamu's "No Longer Human" (Ningen Shikkaku) set in a futuristic sci-fi world. Its connections to Ningen Shikkaku are sharing the main characters, psychological themes, and a few elements such as the paintings, otherwise most of the story is different.
