[Sand] Virus-Virus Buster Serge (Laserdisc) torrent

2/11 Update: I managed to find and buy the Japanese DVD release and will put out a V2 for this eventually

Bringing you more Obari goodness to start the new year.

This is a complete refurbishment of the 1997 Obari anime "Virus-Virus Buster Serge-". I think this anime is quite nice, but due to being released in the west in the early 2000s, the subtitles and video were extremely lacking. Terms were inconsistent, timings were often completely off due to dubtitles, and the video was washed out and ugly. However, I learned that the original Laserdisc release had been ripped by the user PolyGram Video on Archive dot org. I discovered while researching these LDs I discovered that the US DVD release is actually the Broadcast version, and that the LD release has some additions, such as finished animation and some sexy scenes. So, I decided to take the US DVD subtitles and sync them up to the LDs.

The way the LDs were ripped is 1 video file, with 2 sets of episodes per file. So there are 6 video files, with 2 episodes each, for 12 episodes total.

The US DVD subtitles have been gone through with a fine tooth comb to ensure consistency, proper terminology, proper timing, adding missing lines of dialogue and signs, and other such things. However, since I used the Laserdiscs as a source, the English dub is not included. Op/Ed songs are not translated.
There is admittedly still some jank, because I do not have access to a Japanese language script or JP language subtitle track. If I can get those (or perhaps the JP DVD release) I'll do a V2 on these.

Also included in the torrent is scans of the Newtype Novel prequel book titled "The Birth of STAND", and the FMVs from the PS1 spinoff game titled "Virus The Battle Field" from 'Polygram Magic of Japan' on Archive dot org. There's also some nice promo images.
