Plot Summary:
Some time has passed since a group of young people saved the planet, and tales of mysterious Shinkansen trains that transformed into robots are nothing more than urban legends. Enter the world's biggest fan of urban legends, cryptids, mythology, and alien conspiracy theories: Shin Arata. One day, while exploring Gunma Prefecture's Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park, he encounters a mysterious boy named Abuto, and witnesses a terrifying giant monstrous being. Accidentally stumbling into what appears to be a Shinkansen laboratory, Shin discovers that he alone has what it takes to drive the Shinkansen E5 and transform it into a mighty battle mecha, the Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa -- but that's not all! Shinkalion Z now has the ability to combine with conventional line trains, which replace the Shinkalion's arms, legs, and weaponry, giving them a powerful upgrade when facing the fiercest foes! Along with young, mysterious engineer Abuto Usui, Shin opposes the threat of a group of aggressors calling themselves the Teoti. Over time, Shin is joined by more teammates, learns the truth about what happened a few years ago, and becomes a protector in his own right. But when Abuto's mysterious legacy draws him into the clutches of the Teoti, Shin is going to have to do what he must to bring Abuto back, stop the designs of the foes, and save the world itself!
