The Brothers Karamazov is a passionate philosophical novel that explores deep into the ethical debates of God, free will, and morality. It is a spiritual drama of moral struggles concerning faith, doubt, reason, and modern Russia. Dostoyevsky composed much of the novel in Staraya Russa, which is also the main setting of the novel. Since its publication, it has been acclaimed all over the world by thinkers as diverse as Sigmund Freud, Albert Einstein,Ludwig Wittgenstein, Martin Heidegger, and Pope Benedict XVI as one of the supreme achievements in literature.

Review
Dostoevsky’s last and greatest novel, The Karamazov Brothers (1880) is both a brilliantly told crime story and a passionate philosophical debate. The dissolute landowner Fyodor Pavlovich Karamazov is murdered; his sons–the atheist intellectual Ivan, the hot-blooded Dmitry, and the saintly novice Alyosha–are all involved at some level. Brilliantly bound up with this psychological drama is Dostoevsky’s intense and disturbing exploration of many deeply felt ideas about the existence of God, freedom of will, the collective nature of guilt, and the disastrous consequences of rationalism. Filled with eloquent voices, this new translation fully realizes the power and dramatic virtuosity of Dostoevsky’s most brilliant work.

My rip from Books on Tape cassettes through the following process:
1- Recorded cassette playback using Audacity.
2- Reduced noise and normalized using Adobe Audition.
3- Split into files of about 3 minute length making sure to cut from unvoiced parts. I couldn’t find any tool to do that for me, so I developed my own tool!
Now, it’s yours to enjoy!
