Siouxsie and the Banshees est
un groupe de rock alternatif britannique, originaire de Londres, en Angleterre.
Initialement associés à la scène punk anglaise, Siouxsie and the Banshees ont
rapidement su évoluer pour créer « une forme de discorde post-punk remplie
d'expérimentation rythmique et sonore ». The Times cite le groupe comme « un
des aventuriers musicaux les plus audacieux et les plus intransigeants de la
période post-punk ».

Siouxsie and the Banshees
sont cités comme une influence majeure par des groupes de new-wave, comme Joy
Division et The Cure, et par des formations de rock indie et rock alternatif
comme The Smiths, puis Radiohead. Siouxsie est aussi mentionnée en interview
par PJ Harvey.

Depuis sa séparation en
1996, le groupe est cité en référence par une multitude d'artistes dont LCD
Soundsystem, Tricky, Massive Attack, TV on the Radio et Bloc Party.
