Après 13 années de production d'albums studio plus ou moins bien appréciés par la critique, Paul McCartney fait un retour à la scène spectaculaire au cours d'une tournée mondiale en 1989-1990. Son show comprend un mélange judicieux de titres emblématiques des Beatles et de chansons de son ère post-Beatles (Solo ou avec les Wings).
Ce film, réalisé par Richard Lester revenu de sa retraite, est composé de shoots des différents concerts de la tournée. Derrière le groupe sont projetées des images de McCartney qui forment une retrospective de la carrière de la star.
