LES DOOBIES BROTHERS :
L'histoire du groupe peut être divisée en trois époques, d'abord de sa création en 1969 jusqu'à 1975 avec le guitariste chanteur Tom Johnston qui apporte avec lui un son rock 'n' roll, tout en incluant des éléments folk, country et R&B. Il quitte le groupe en 1975, remplacé par Michael McDonald choriste pour Steely Dan, lequel change le son des Doobie Brothers avec son intérêt pour la soul music jusqu'à leur première séparation en 1982. Ils se reforment en 1987 avec le retour de Tom Johnston dans la formation, ainsi que des apparitions temporaires de Michael McDonald et sont toujours actifs jusqu'à maintenant. Leurs plus grands succès incluent Black Water, Listen to the Music, Long Train Runnin, China Grove et Jesus is just allright pour la première période, puis avec l'arrivée de McDonald au sein du groupe, on retrouve des chansons avec une sonorité plus soul comme It Keeps You Runnin', You belong to me, Taking it to the Streets et Minute by minute puis avec la reformation en 1987, les succès se sont faits un peu plus rares mais on retrouve quand même des pièces telles que Need a Little Taste of Love, Dangerous, Ordinary Man, Nobody et finalement World Gone Crazy.
