Nirvana était un groupe de rock américain formé à Aberdeen, Washington,

en 1987. Il a été fondé par le chanteur et guitariste Kurt Cobain

et le bassiste Krist Novoselic. Nirvana a traversé une succession de

les batteurs, le plus durable et le plus connu étant Dave Grohl,

qui a rejoint le groupe en 1990. Bien que le groupe se soit dissous en 1994 après la

mort de Cobain, leur musique entretient une audience populaire et

continue d’influencer la culture moderne du rock and roll.A la fin

Années 1980, le Nirvana s’est établi dans le cadre du grunge de Seattle

scène, libérant son premier album, Bleach, pour le groupe indépendant

label de musique Sub Pop en 1989. Ils ont développé un son qui reposait

sur les contrastes dynamiques, souvent entre des vers silencieux et forts, lourds

choeurs. Après avoir signé avec le label majeur DGC Records, Nirvana découvre

succès mondial inattendu avec "Smells Like Teen Spirit", le

premier single du deuxième album du groupe Nevermind, qui a

maintenant été classé comme l'une des plus grandes chansons de l'histoire de

musique rock. Nevermind a également été appelé l'un des plus grands

albums de tous les temps et s'est vendu à plus de 30 millions d'exemplaires dans le monde.
