Shannon (née Shannon Brenda Greene le 2 mai 19581 à Washington DC) est une chanteuse américaine.
Elle est notamment connue pour son morceau funk/freestyle proche des musiques new wave et italo-disco de 1983, Let the Music Play.
Le morceau redéfinit entre autres le son electro-funk, qu'Arthur Baker et John Rocca produisirent en 1982.
"Let the Music Play" est le premier album studio de la chanteuse. La chanson titre (initialement appelée "Fire and Ice"),
écrite par l'équipe de Chris Barbosa et Ed Chisolm, est devenue un grand succès, culminant au numéro 8 du Billboard Hot 100
et au numéro 1 du palmarès de danse Billboard. L'album lui-même se vendra à plus d'un million d'exemplaires dans le monde.
L'album a valu à Shannon sa première nomination aux Grammy Awards pour la meilleure performance vocale R&B féminine en 1985.
