Groupe de rock de Burnage, Manchester, formé en 1991.

Formé à partir des cendres d'un groupe appelé The Rain (composé de Paul McGuigan, Paul Arthurs, Tony McCarroll et Chris Hutton au chant) qui a débuté en 1990. Chris a été limogé et Liam Gallagher a pris le relais au chant. Son frère Noel Gallagher (ancien roadie guitare pour Clint Boon d'Inspiral Carpets) l'a ensuite rejoint en tant qu'auteur-compositeur et guitariste supplémentaire.

En 1999, deux des membres fondateurs (Guigsy et Bonehead) quittent le groupe et Noel joue leurs rôles sur le quatrième album. Deux nouveaux musiciens ont été recrutés - Gem Archer et Andy Bell - initialement pour des tournées, mais sont devenus à plein temps et ont fait partie du processus d'écriture des chansons sur les albums suivants.

Le 28 août 2009, Noel a annoncé qu'il quittait le groupe après une altercation avec Liam. Les autres membres continuent à se produire sous le nom de Beady Eye, tandis que Noel a formé High Flying Birds de Noel Gallagher.
