Desert Rose
Les frères et soeurs Greyling se retrouvent dans leur maison familiale située dans le désert du Namaqualand, au Cap Nord, après que l'un d'entre eux a renoncé à un accord conclu il y a dix ans pour régler les dettes qu'ils avaient contractées lorsque leur père les avait abandonnés et avait disparu.

L'histoire commence le jour où Eben refuse d'aller pêcher avec son bienfaiteur, Van As. Le refus d'Eben brise les chaînes d'un accord vieux de dix ans entre Van As et la famille Greyling. Mais la dette ne disparaîtra pas. Quelqu'un devra payer. Van As recherche Freddy, bat sa fille Ishara et lui vole son chat. Pendant ce temps, Jana et Piet mettent en place un plan pour "effrayer" Van As, mais il tourne mal et ils finissent par kidnapper sa femme, Suzanne, à la place. Rosie se rend compte qu'elle doit retrouver Freddy pour résoudre la situation de Van As. Mais elle est distraite par une demande en mariage de Mack et par la révélation que sa fille, Lucy, a le béguin pour son professeur de netball. Rosie obtient une piste sur l'endroit où se trouve Freddy et part à sa recherche. Sur la route de Port Nolloth, Rosie meurt dans un accident de voiture et sa disparition est le catalyseur qui oblige les frères et soeurs Greyling à retourner dans la maison familiale et à faire face à leur passé.
