Le deuxième album éponyme de Ghost Note a probablement été le point culminant de 2018 pour
les musiciens hipsters ; deux membres de Snarky Puppy et MonoNeon sur le même disque ? C'est tout ce
dont le monde de la fusion rêvait.

Malgré les références avant-gardistes du groupe, l'album dégage une ambiance résolument rétro ; la
pochette semble s'inspirer de la production d'Herbie Hancock des années 1970, la musique s'inspirant
largement des canons du jazz-funk tout en y ajoutant des influences hip-hop, gospel, latino,
psychédélique et jazz pur et dur. Quelles que soient les influences présentées, un élément domine
toujours la musique : le groove.

Le premier morceau instrumental de l'album, « Swagism », illustre parfaitement ce melting-pot
musical : un équilibre entre une énergie funk frémissante et des lignes à l'unisson, teintées de
bebop.
