though the lepers, all former knights of the Royal household, are being targeted.
The discovery that Ralph was killed by no ordinary weapon, but a poison dagger

Après avoir récemment démasqué un assassin sournois, Sir Hugh Corbett a repris
ses fonctions de Gardien du Sceau Secret, admettant à contrecœur que son goût
pour l'aventure s'est à nouveau éveillé.
Convoqués auprès du Roi pour être félicités pour leur collaboration, Corbett et
Ranulf apprennent la mort de Ralph Grandison, un ami proche de Corbett. Ralph,
un lépreux, a été retrouvé mort dans une barque, un poignard planté dans la
poitrine. Mais ce meurtre n'est pas le premier du genre. D'autres patients de
l'hôpital où séjournait Ralph ont commis des meurtres similaires, et il semble
que les lépreux, tous d'anciens chevaliers de la maison royale, soient pris pour cible.
La découverte que Ralph a été tué par une arme non ordinaire, mais par une dague
empoisonnée ayant appartenu aux Joyaux de la Couronne avant d'être volée,
entraîne Corbett sur un chemin complexe, où le risque de maladie se joue sur la
