Написана она была под впечатлением от тяжелой жизни уличных девушек, увиденных Стингом энд Ко неподалеку от их гостиницы в Париже, где они выступали в 77-м. Названа песня по имени главной героини пьесы Ростана "Сирано де Бержерак", старая афиша которой висела в холле гостиницы. Ребята не были уверены, что песня удачная, но Miles Copeland пришел от нее в восторг. Песня вошла в первый диск "Police" - "Outlandos d'Amour", потом была перезаписана в 1979-м, стала классикой как группы, так и сольной карьеры Стинга, была спета практически на каждом их концерте и входила в каждый альбом "Greatest hits". у песни существует много вариантов исполнения: Стинг добавлял и менял музыкальное сопровождение для своих турне разных лет.
