After the demise of the thrash/progressive band Violent Night, Vic Stown and his brother Jesse formed Vindicator with ex-black metal singer Khaine (Black Trinity), real name Marshall Law. Wayne Holocaust, also an ex-guitarist of Violent Night joined the band for some time, but dropped out shortly before the band’s popularity began to rise.

As a trio, Vindicator toured and almost landed a record deal, but Marshall Law left, and Vic disbanded Vindicator. Unhappy with doing so, Vic announced via Myspace, that the band would soon regroup in 2007. In 2008, Marshall Law rejoined. Jesse Stown rejoined as well, as once again a failed attempt to reform past band Violent Night fell flat.

The Antique Witcheries is Vindicator's third official release, second full length, and first album on label Heavy Artillery. If you have been a fan of the band since the inception you will notice a few changes with this release. First the line up has changed a little since the new album. Vic and the boys have brought in Kidd Chaos to fill the role of bass so Marshall Law can focus on vocals. Which leads to the next change you may notice. Law's vocal approach is even more clearer then before. It seems also that he has achieved a wider range and is just able to do more with his voice on this release. But don't fret for he still retains his gritty edge. The production of the whole album is more polished then the last release but is not over produced by any means. The sound still obtains a rawness for a perfect trash metal sound. The next difference you will notice are the songs themselves. The writing has advanced light years from the first album There Will Be Blood. The bands obvious original influences such as Venom, Motorhead, and early Slayer are still present but a more progressive style is here as well. Heathen, Anacrusis, Megadeth, and Testament are now heard with in the vibes. The songs are very well written with catchy versus and choruses, thrashing breakdowns, crushing riffs, neck breaking solo's, and hooks that will keep you begging for more!

The big problem with the New Wave of Trash Metal, or whatever you want to call it has the same problem Thrash had in the late 80's. To many bands to generic. So many thrash bands that are coming out or have in the past 5 years have been very bland and generic. Sad enough Vindicator has been in this same mess. Besides the die hard thrash fanatics if your album doesn't stand out it is going to be over looked. With The Antique Witcheries this should not be the case. This album is great from beginning to finish! This album is straight up thrash but will stand out from everything that is being put out there. Even though Vindicator has seen some success with in the scene I expect them to sling shot to the forefront of the thrash movement with this release. My favorite tracks and recommendations for the weary listener to check out are: Fear Monger, Communal Decay, Sewn to the Flesh.
